I Year Curriculum

The objective of the IMI Certificate program is to give students a good foundation in the world of Hotel, Tourism, and Events Management. On completion of the I year, students will be ready to progress to the first level of their BA degree course. The program also includes opportunities for students to strengthen their English language skills.

Culinary principles 1

The course stresses the importance of proper hygiene, food handling and storage, cleaning and sanitation, HACCP, and pest control in a food service operation. Accident prevention and crisis management underscore that careful work habits and a safe working environment reduce the possibility of injuries. 

Introduction to Hospitality &Tourism

Students learn about the historical development of international hotel and tourism industries and the structures and industry players today. A perfect overview of the main areas to be studied at this level.

Front Office Management

This unit provides an investigation into hotel front office service; it's function, standards of services, a relationship of a front office with the operation and management of a hotel.

Hospitality English

Students have the opportunity to improve their grammar, reading, writing, vocabulary, listening, speaking and University level research skills based on hospitality and tourism themes. This ensures the success of the students in the current but also forthcoming levels of study.

Accommodation Operation

This unit provides an investigation into the operation of the accommodation service; it's function, standards of services, a relationship of a front office with the operation and management of a hotel.

Food & Beverage Service

This practical unit focuses on the development of students restaurant service skills and knowledge of beverages served within fine-dining restaurant environments.

Property Management Systems (Opera)

Students learn how to work in Opera Property Management System.

Introduction to Accounting

An introduction to the core principals and concepts of managerial accounting and basic financial management in the hospitality industry.

Personal Development

Personal Professional Development is a structured and supported process whereby students can plan, monitor and reflect on their academic work and improve their presentation skills to help prepare for a professional career.
